After two years of planning and pricing by the team construction finally commenced on the Wellington Sofitel Hotel Project in November 2012. This project involved the strengthening and refurbishment of the existing building with additional floor areas being constructed to the rear of the site and 6 new levels atop the existing structure. The scope of works for the project included:

Demolition to be undertaken to leave the existing 7 story structure only in place. This also included:

  • Removal of existing roof structure and plant rooms down to window sill height of level 7.
  • Removal of all internal fittings and fixtures.
  • Removal of all exterior window joinery.

Piling & Earthworks:

  • Installation of new piles to a depth of up to 28m to Bolton Street frontage and rear of site and associated pile caps and ground beams.
  • Excavation to the rear of site.

Construction:

  • Erection of a Tower Crane to the Bolton Street Frontage.
  • Construction of a new 13 storey structure to the rear of 11 Bolton St with existing structure strengthened and extended from 7 levels to 13 levels.
  • Fit-out of new structure including exterior window joinery, lifts, plants and all internal fittings and fixtures for new 130 Room 5 Star Hotel.
