The Auckland team has an exciting opportunity for an experienced and energetic Project Manager.  The ideal candidate should have a positive attitude, who thrives on challenges, a team player, is down to earth and possess a strong work ethic.  Key to this role is for you to efficiently and diligently carryout the management, planning, implementation, and checking of all on-site construction personnel and activities to ensure Projects are completed on time, within budget without compromising quality or safety

Job Description

  • Holds the skills to be an effective communicator to a range of people working onsite as well as local industry stakeholders
  • Can manage all aspects of the construction site and uses initiatives to improve site performance
  • Will drive an industry leading team to be efficient, hardworking and fun to deliver the high standards we pride ourselves on.
  • A strong focus on health and safety management to minimise risks and enhances the ‘safe work environment’
  • Effectively manage project management processes onsite
  • Organises, and monitors the set-up and operation of necessary site establishment
  • Track performance of construction programme and costs are kept to budget

  • Practices effective environmental management

Quantity Surveyor / Senior Quantity Surveyor

We are looking for a Quantity Surveyor who is keen to be part of a committed, down to earth team, that thrive on challenges and who have a strong work ethic. You will need to have proven experience as a QS in this industry so you can hit the ground running. A background in Commercial Construction is preferred.

The role is with our Interiors team and would suit someone with 5 – 7 years’ experience who is looking for the opportunity to take the next step in their career and move towards being a Senior QS.  The projects diverse and range in value from $100k to $40m and clients can be corporate, private, blue chip, government, property developers/investors and other companies within the Dominion group.

The role is supported by an experienced Commercial and Construction team.

Payroll Administrator

Part Time, 30 hours/5 days week

Reporting to the Payroll Manager, you will be part of the team that ensures that all the staff across the business are paid correctly and in a timely manner. There will be a variety of waged and salaried pay runs, with multiple pay frequencies.

This is not simply a processing role, you must be able to look beyond the numbers and pick up discrepancies. You will also be responsible for all general payroll functions.

You will have a minimum of 2 years payroll experience, preferably with using DataPay payroll and/or TimeFiler Time and Attendance system. You will also have an intermediate level of Excel ability and up to date NZ payroll legislation knowledge is a must.

You will need a systems analytical mindset to be able to work on system related changes, system and process improvements and payroll business projects.

You will be liaising with internal stakeholders across the business for any payroll queries, so a high level of written and verbal communication skills is essential. If you enjoy being kept busy, like a challenge and love working to deadlines, this is the role for you!

In summary:

• Experience using DataPay payroll preferable

• TimeFiler experience would be great, but not essential

• General understanding of Time and Attendance systems and/or Self Service portals

• Experience in processing wage and salary pay runs for 150+ employees

• Must have good Excel skills

• Must have a systems analytical mindset

• Must have good verbal and written communication skills

• Must have sound knowledge of NZ payroll legislation and practices

• Must have friendly and bubbly nature and great sense of humour

Site Administrator

Auckland

We are looking for a Site Administrator who is a team player and a people person with a great phone manner, dynamic, enthusiastic, and willing to learn. This role is for a busy project management team with various projects.

You will need to have a strong work ethic, ability to multi-task under time pressures, be punctual, friendly and helpful communication manner, and efficient computer administrative skills.

Tasks for this role are (but are not limited to)

  • General office administration
  • Assistance with manuals and training documentation and presentation requirements
  • Assist with preparation, attend and minute site meetings
  • Support the QA & H&S requirements
  • Manage the logging and distribution of drawings
  • Answering phone inquiries
  • General assistance to the Site Management
  • Basic knowledge of Microsoft Office (excel, word, outlook)
  • Data entry with speed and accuracy
  • Process the receipt and re-distribution of project documentation
  • Assist Project Manager with Compliance Documentation
  • Knowledge of Procore, Acuite & Aconex preferred.

Construction experience essential.

Concrete Workers, Apprentices, Grouting & Concrete Remedials

We are looking to grow our concrete & structures team at Dominion Constructors. We have multiple roles available for people with the following skills to work on large projects around the Auckland region:

  • General Concrete workers
  • Concrete Remedials
  • Grouting

At least 3 years’ relevant experience including NZ local experience. We are also looking for Apprentices – earn while you learn. No experience required.

  • The programme takes approximately 36 months to complete.
  • Each cadet receives a training programme and logbook identifying the minimum skills, knowledge and experience required for a future career path. This assists with monitoring by both management and the Cadet.
  • Most of the training and experience is provided internally, with supplementary training by external providers also scheduled, including Site Safe and EMA one-day short courses.
  • Cadets are also required to keep a personal record of the training and work experience gained.”

  • We run an Apprenticeship scheme that covers both Commercial and Residential carpentry to give our Apprentices a wider scope of the trade
  • The programme takes approximately 4 years to complete.
  • Regular meetings are held with the Apprentice Manager and the training provider to assist in tracking the Apprentices performance in the class room and if further assistance is needed.
  • Each Apprentice receives an in-house training booklet with each unit standard broken down.
  • A Buddy system has also been established to provide each Apprentice with the extra guidance they may need to succeed
  • We aim to empower our Apprentices to reach their own individual goals and achieve their required targets

 

In 2014, Kandar Gibbes from our Residential team was placed 1st in the Auckland Region Apprentice of the Year competition and also placed 2nd in the National Apprentice of the Year competition in 2015.

In 2016, Daniel Gibson, also from our Residential team, placed 1st in the Apprentice World Skills Challenge in Auckland.
