THE OXFORD APARTMENTS

The Oxford Apartments, located on the banks of Christchurch’s Avon River (Ōtākaro), was a notable 12-level structure that offered commanding views over Christchurch City. The Oxford Apartments comprised 14 luxury apartments that embodied high-end craftsmanship and materials.

Dominion Constructors’ South Island team was engaged to seismically strengthen and redevelop the structure and complete the fit-out of the 14 apartments.

The seismic upgrade of the building was carried out using Tectonus products, bringing it to a minimum of 100% New Building Standard (NBS) and futureproofing it against earthquakes. The installation of Tectonus products represented a revolutionary approach, marking the first time these products had been retrofitted into an existing building.

This innovative technology ensured that the Oxford Apartments were structurally sound and offered a secure and comfortable living environment for residents.

The Oxford Apartments has won a series of Prestigious awards, such as being recognised on the global stage, winning a category at the 2024 Institution of Structural Engineers (IStructE) International Structural Awards in London.
