MT EDEN CORRECTIONS FACILITY

As a main subcontractor for Fletcher Construction on this project, Dominion Constructors was responsible for the concrete structure of the Gatehouse, Prisoner Support Building, Accommodation A and B block, a Health Facility and all associated overhead walkways and paths. A majority of the concrete work involved the construction all foundations, columns, beams and slabs.

In addition, Dominion was awarded the carpentry package for the Prisoner Support Building and the Gatehouse, which primarily involved building the internal framing, walls, ceilings and all timber finishings within both buildings.

Dominion faced many challenges on this project, most importantly the strict security and restriction of communication whilst working on site. All staff and subcontractors had to obtain police clearance to work on site. Communication was difficult as mobile phones were not permitted on prison grounds, restricting contact with workforce off site.
