CENTRAL PARK CARPARK

Dominion was the main contractor for the 15,000 m², 5 level carpark, located in Central Park business complex Great South Road, Penrose, Auckland.

A 12 month build program was pushed out to 14 months due to the site containing low levels of asbestos contamination. Ground floor is slab on grade with 4 suspended floor levels. Essentially an insitu / precast concrete structure with large span double T flooring units, precast shear walls, perimeter precast spandrel panels and insitu concrete columns.

Site access and build methodology was a challenge as the site is located between two existing tenanted buildings and the eastern & southern boundaries border the Ellerslie motorway on ramp and the North Island main trunk railway line.

Central Park Carpark is the first job to have the services of the newly purchased Dominion Potain MD560 Tower Crane from France. Ground/soil anchors at shear wall locations proved very difficult to complete due to a wide variance of soil conditions experienced across the site. Large volumes of basalt rock had to be broken out and removed in some sections of the site.
