86 REMUERA RD APARTMENTS

Six high quality, contemporary apartments were constructed at 86 Remuera Road, Auckland. The building consists of four storeys plus basement carpark and storage. The structure is solid concrete, with construction methods utilising a mixture of cast in-situ, precast, standard masonry concrete and lightweight blockwork.

As the main contractor Dominion worked closely with the client, architect and subcontractors ensuring safety standards were upheld and a high quality finish was achieved.

Standout features begin with the quality design, making the most of the limited area of the site and maximising the views and natural light, with generous stud heights. All apartments have outdoor living areas consisting of gardens and/or large terraces. The high quality level 5 finish sprayed plaster work complements the fixtures and fittings throughout.

As the construction site was in close proximity to residents and a hearing clinic next door, constant attention to construction practices and methods was required. A self-erecting tower crane was utilised as access to the site was difficult and a comprehensive traffic management plan was implemented.

Dominion Constructors was nominated as a finalist for the NZIOB Awards for Excellence in the Building Professions 2005 in the under $5 million category. This project also won the award for best small residential project for Leuschke Group Ltd in the NZIA Auckland Architecture Awards 2005.
